Method & scope
A full cylinder, measured from the inside.
Volume = π × (inside diameter ÷ 2)² × length, using consistent length units. Fluid mass = volume in cubic metres × density in kg/m³.
One US liquid gallon is 231 cubic inches, or 3.785411784 litres. One foot is 0.3048 metres and one inch is 25.4 mm. The results use US liquid gallons. NIST publishes the unit-conversion reference.
This calculation excludes fittings, valves, branches, equipment volumes and partial filling. It does not determine flow rate, pressure loss or a material’s suitability for a service.
